Spring’s Three-Way Collab: Fragment design x Sacai x Nike LD Waffle
Yup, Its official! The fragment design x sacai x Nike LDWaffle is actually releasing, for real. Eventhough sacai has moved on to the VaporWaffle, the brand is revisiting the older model, the beloved Nike LD Waffle. Sportswear Giant Nike is going to release another Sacai x Nike LDWaffle collaboration. This time though, they will use some help from Fujiwara’s Fragment Design. An awesome three-way collab between Hiroshi Fujiwara, Chitose Abe, and The Swoosh. We are praying this pair gets three-times the hype, too.
The fragment design x sacai x Nike LDWaffle first leaked during summer 2020. And that’s when the sneaker world stood still. Fujirawa, aka the godfather of streetwear, took a selfie with Breakfast Club Tokyo’s Kunichi Nomura where he was spotted wearing the pair. Since that tease, we have all been waiting to see if this one will see the light of day.
The one and only @soleheatonfeet and @zsneakerheadz had already seen this shoe coming months ago and expected it to release during this Spring. And it seems rumor is true: We will be witnessing the LDWaffle sometime very soon.
Nike LD Waffle: A Triple Collab that is all about Doubles?
Just like its prior, this fragment x sacai LDWaffle is going to carry the same color scheme: navy, black, and white. Looking closer, this pair is dressed in two key materials: suede and mesh. A black mesh base wears the shoe with characteristic navy suede overlays.
Doubles, doubles. That’s what Abe is all about. Double swooshes, double tongues, midsoles, heel tabs, and even double lacing systems. And all these double elements come in contrast with the darker shades, in a crisp white color. Yes, you heard that right. Dual Nike Swooshes arrive across the lateral and medial side panels in classic leather white. Twin tongues call for a double branding: One for Nike, and another for Fragment design’s logo. Double midsoles are also in white, and a rubber outsole comes in dark navy, finishing the look. Topping it off, the Fragment lighting bolt motif lands once again right atop the midsoles to finalize the design.
Don’t let all those doubles confuse you and grab a closer look at the pair below.
Three Way Collab Calls for Three-times the Hype
These are the type of collabs that our sneakerheads are thankful for. Love it or not, you just can’t not appreciate the work put into this signature deconstructed aesthetic. It’s like a full-on architecture project. And again, love it or not, this pair is definitely a Cop for us. Why? Check out the Nike LD Waffle sacai Black that released back in 2019 for just the same price as this one [$160]. Today, only two years later, and the shoe is reselling for an average of $665. It was even listed as one of the Top 10 Most Expensive Sneakers of 2019!
But honestly? We actually think that this year’s release is going to be way sexier. The design and color combination are just dope. With that said, we imagine there will be no Ls with these kicks, IF copped. So, get your sneaker bots ready, fam. Because you sure ain’t copping no exclusive collab like this one at retail.
